McHale lands next gen v6 round balers

New baler line-up comes with plenty of new features over predecessor range

A larger rotor, new pickup, new panel design and different chamber options are just a few of McHale’s next generation V6 balers’ new and improved features, the company said.

Officially launched at Agritechnica 2019, the McHale V6740 non-chopper baler and the McHale V6750 15-knife chopper baler have been designed to provide higher output and density, McHale added.

“The McHale V6 range of variable chamber balers are recognised worldwide for making well-shaped, high density bales,” said McHale Marketing & Sales Director, Martin McHale.

“Our new V6740 & V6750 have brought baling to a new level with higher density, better intake, less crop loss and easier maintenance.”

According to McHale, the new V6 balers have 10 new features to offer operators a better baling experience:

1. New pickup for higher intake

The new V6 balers are available with either a 5-tine bar cam track pick-up or 6-tine bar cam-less pick-up with double crop roller.

McHale has increased the size of the lateral feed augers and rotor in the pickup to improve intake. The angle at which the floor is positioned has also been redesigned to maximise the flow of crop into the chamber.

2. Adaptive Intake

A new Adaptive Intake system automatically adjusts to changes in material flow. The new design of the floor allows better crop intake, less chances of blockages occurring and the ability to better handle uneven rows and swaths, MchHale said.

3. Selectable Knives

A 15-knife chopper unit is available on the McHale V6750 as standard. With all 15 knives engaged on the McHale V6750, a chop length of approximately 65mm can be achieved. Knives in the V6750 baler can be engaged and disengaged from the tractor cab.

An optional selectable knife system is available, consisting of two knife banks that allow for various knife configurations to be chosen. Operators can select none, seven, eight, or the maximum 15 knives depending on circumstances.

4. Drop Floor Unblocking System

As baling conditions change, uneven swaths can occur leading to blockages. The McHale V6 variable chamber baler range is fitted with a drop floor unblocking system to deal with blockages as they occur.

When a blockage happens, the sound of the slip clutch alerts the operator, who can then hydraulically lower the drop floor from the tractor cab. This widens the feed channel and upon re-engaging the PTO, the blockage will be fed through. The floor can then be reset to its original position and baling can resume.

5. Bale Chamber

All machines in the new V6 range come fitted with three heavy-duty endless belts as standard. A full width single belt is a new option which McHale said reduces crop loss in crops such as lucerne and alfalfa where there is a lot of protein in the leaf, McHale said.

The McHale V6740 is fitted with a primary drive to aid belt and material rotation while a second drive is fitted on the McHale V6750. In difficult conditions, such as wet short grass, the secondary drive will engage to ensure material rotates in the chamber should the primary drive slip.

6. High Performance Netting System

McHale’s netting system on the new V6 round baler range features endless net adjustment and is able to take net rolls of up to 1300mm in width. It also has a 180-degree wrap around on the feed roller to prevent any net slippage while feeding.

A moving roller allows the net roll to rotate as it is being applied to ensure even net application. The operator can adjust net tension from within the tractor cab.

7. Automatic Greasing

Manual Greasing Blocks are available as standard on the McHale V6740 model while the McHale V6750 comes fitted with an Automatic Greasing System. The system delivers a measured amount of grease around the baler every time a bale is ejected from the bale chamber.

8. New Panel Design

The new V6 balers have a fresh look featuring new twin skin durable panels that open upwards to provide better access to the machine’s components.

9. Expert Plus Control Console

A new Expert Plus Control Console with a large graphic display is available with the new and improved V6 balers. Using the console, operators can adjust a wide range of baler settings from within the tractor cab including core and bale size; core density and bale density, and revolutions of net being applied.

The new Expert Plus console also gives the operator the choice of selecting a soft or hard bale core, depending on the customers' feed out requirements.

A new bale shape indicator provides the operator with an accurate reading of the bale shape via the console. The sensor detects the movement of the belt and informs the operator which side of the chamber to fill.

10. Bale Kicker

A heavy-duty bale kicker on both V6 baler models ensures a clean separation between the machine and the finished bale. A bale discharge sensor notifies the driver when the bale has left the chamber and has passed the bale kicker.
