AgQuip, FarmFest cancelled

Leading farm field days canned for 2020 following initial postponement.

Organisers of the annual AgQuip and FarmFest field days have announced the popular events will not go ahead this year after all.

Toowoomba’s FarmFest field days, which was initially scheduled for June 2 to 4 this year was pushed to September 2020. AgQuip, originally scheduled to run in Gunnedah from August 18 to 20, was moved to November this year.

However, ACM Rural Events, which is in charge of both events, ultimately decided to cancel the field days for this year following consultation with the government and health authorities.

“Considering the size, scale and complexity of such important events to the primary industry and the regional and rural communities, we need surety in order to proceed.” said ACM Rural Events Group Manager, Kate Nugent.

“The new lockdown controls now in Victoria and the potential for further reimposition of restrictions in NSW have created further uncertainty.”

“Our decision is primarily based on our concern for the public health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees and staff.

“We hoped conditions might have improved to the point where we could be confident the events could be staged safely and effectively, but this has not happened.”

However, Nugent urges patrons to look forward to bigger and better events in 2021.

The CRT FarmFest field days will be next staged from June 8 to 10, 2021; while the AgQuip field days will be held from August 17 to 19, 2021.
