New Amity sugarbeet harvester has more capacity, flotation

The Amity 2720 Harvester includes a variety of new features to improve harvest efficiency.

Amity Technology’s new 2720 Harvester has several improvements and new features to increase sugarbeet harvest efficiency.

The 12-row harvester has a higher volume scrub tower. The new, wider path that harvested sugarbeets follow to the top of the machine can hold up to 31% more beets.

Dynamic Chain Management is also standard on the 2720’s scrub elevator. DCM helps to lengthen the life of the scrub chains by properly managing the tension on the pendulum that helps take up slack when the harvester is not at maximum capacity. It allows the harvester to handle almost anything from the thinnest stands and lightest tonnage to more than the heaviest tonnage per acre that growers can raise today.

The 2720 can be mounted on a 30-inch by 67-inch track system or on 900/60R32 tires. The larger tires or tracks will help with flotation during the wet times while reducing compaction and increase stability.

Installed software on the new harvester will allow the optional Amity’s Active Depth Control to work with any ISOBUS terminal, decreasing the number of screens in the tractor cab. The user interface of ADC has also been dramatically updated to allow for a more intuitive operation.

New side doors on the 2720 provide easier access to maintenance points and adjustments, making it quicker to get back to harvest.

“Field tests for the 2720 harvester have shown capacity capabilities well beyond 45-ton beets at 5 miles per hour,” says Brad Meyer, vice president of sales and marketing for Amity Technology. “Additionally, the optional track system helps keep the harvester running when conditions are challenging.”
