Kioti CK4220 launched

BRANDED as Korea’s finest tractors designed for Australia’s farmers, Daedong subsidiary Kioti is celebrating 18 years of imports.

After gaining its majority, the next step for the brand widely considered in the top three of the 15 to 75 kilowatt (20 to 100 horsepower) market segment is to move up, both in horsepower and market share.

Displaying the new 31 kilowatt (42 horsepower) CK4220 cab tractor at Commonwealth Bank AgQuip, Kioti territory manager, Robert Wruck said the company had sold about 900 to 1000 tractors a year for over five years with about 14,000 units estimated to currently be in the country.

“They get great resale value and are extremely reliable,” he said.

“In the last four years we have seen our range expand, there are over 30 different models, in different configurations, you can buy from us.

“Our marketing plan is to develop into 112kW (150hp) tractors over the next three to four years and also look at speciality tractors, such as orchard tractors.”

Mr Wruck said the CK4220 had just been released to Australia in a manual transmission, while the hydro-static two pedal control model had been imported for about 12 months.

“It features a good sized cab with air-conditioning and a four year powertrain warranty,” he said.

“We believe it will reach a niche market - the loader has a four-in-one bucket as a standard with an euro hitch on it so they can put pallet forks or bale forks on it.”

Mr Wruck said while times were tough, due to drought, he remained optimistic that things would turn around.

“We just need to get a bit of rain and be a bit more positive about everything again and we will be right,” he said.

Daedong brand Kioti is distributed by PFG Australia.
