AccuTurn Makes Headland Turning Hands-Free

Case IH wants to help farmers take the guesswork out of turning on headlands.

The company says tractor operators can now use its new AccuTurn automatic headland turning technology to navigate hands-free, automatic, repeatable turns for increased productivity and reduced operator fatigue.

Case IH unveiled the Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) auto guidance technology last week at the 2017 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky. In this video, AFS marketing specialist Ryan Blasiak explains how AccuTurn automatically controls the entire headland turning process with path-planning logic.

Case IH says AccuTurn productivity benefits include:

Turn-path planning and turn-speed optimization: Seamlessly navigate the tightest turns and position the tractor and implement into the next pass. The Auto-speed feature provides automatic turn-path planning that adapts to each operation’s speed, including maximum-turn-speed alerts.

Precise product application to manage and control inputs: Intercept headlands or resume field passes with optimal implement position. This reduces inconsistencies seen through manual steering with mounted or trailing planters, seeders or fertilizer applicators at the end of the field.

Multiple modes of operation: Two intuitive settings — Automatic and Turn Now — allow operators to customize the level of automation for a range of applications from tillage and side dressing to planting and seeding.

In Louisville, Case IH also showcased its latest UAV package. In the video, Blasiak is joined by Jono Millin from DroneDeploy, which collaborated with the company on the product offering.

Available this spring, Millin explains that the Case IH UAV package includes the DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone with RGB camera, hard carrying case, extra battery and one-year subscription to DroneDeploy software. This system makes it quick and easy for producers to fly their drone, capture imagery, view and analyze maps with powerful filters, and then share those maps and insights with trusted advisers to immediately take action.
