National Wheat Federation Announces 2016 Yield Contest Winners

Last week, the National Wheat Foundation (NWF) announced the winners of the 2016 National Wheat Yield Contest, including the fourteen national winners, and all the state winners.

The highest yielding grower was Phillip Gross from Warden, Washington, who grew a yield of 192.85 bushels per acre, with Westbred Keldin seeds. A full list of the winners can be found here. With the announcement of the winners, NWF is also pleased and excited to open registration for the 2017 National Wheat Yield Contest. Registration for the fall wheat sector will end May 1, 2017 and registration for the spring wheat sector will end August 1, 2017. The Foundation expects to see an even larger number of entrants for the 2017 Contest, and encourages growers to participate in the revitalization of the wheat industry through the transfer of crucial knowledge between growers and the utilization of new and modern growing practices. The Yield Contest will allow successful growers to develop and share techniques that will bring the whole industry to the forefront of cutting-edge technology and practices.
