Why we use waterbed cow mats?
Livestock Rubber Mats
Advantages
1. Evenly distribute body pressure and reduce limb, hoof and joint injuries. The water flows and fits the cow’s body shape to eliminate local high-pressure points, greatly lowering the risk of hock hematoma, abrasions and joint ulcers. It protects the udder and reduces the chance of udder trauma and mastitis. Unlike foam mats that compact and collapse over time, water beds will not suffer permanent deformation and maintain consistent cushioning performance.
2. Extend cows’ daily lying time and improve milk production performance. When cows lie down, blood flow to the udder increases significantly, which is key to high milk yield. Compared with concrete floors or thin rubber mats, water beds provide greater comfort so cows are willing to rest longer, which benefits lactation and reproduction.
3. Sanitary and easy to clean, saving ongoing bedding costs. The fully sealed rubber surface prevents manure and urine penetration and accumulation, reducing bacterial growth. There is no need to continuously add sand, straw or sawdust bedding. It cuts expenses on bedding purchase, removal and labor, and reduces manure treatment pressure.
4. Temperature regulation (varies by climate).
- Hot regions: The water conducts heat away from cows to relieve heat stress and maintain feed intake and milk output.
- Temperate regions: It keeps a mild surface temperature in spring and autumn and provides cooling in summer.
5. Long service life. The thickened anti-slip rubber top layer features good wear and tear resistance. It has a long service life as long as it is not punctured by sharp hard objects. Its long-term comprehensive cost is better than foam mats which need frequent replacement.
