Liability risk horse walker

Important safety and maintenance tips for your horse walker

Dear customers,

We would like to draw your attention to this recently published article ‘Liability risk horse walker’. This article reports on an unfortunate incident in a horse walker that did not originate from us, but which moves and concerns us as a leading manufacturer.

A horse died in an accident in a horse walker. The cause was a bolt that was not properly embedded in the concrete floor to secure the door, which allowed the horse's foot to slip into the space between the door and frame, causing serious injuries. This accident not only had tragic consequences for the animal concerned, but also led to a court case with the result that the stable operator's insurance company only reimbursed the horse owner for part of the value of the horse and the insurance company or manufacturer only covered part of the damage incurred.

This incident raises the question of how such dangerous situations can arise and whether they are avoidable. Our systems are built with a high degree of safety, the probability of an accident is low, at least when we have delivered the system new to the customer. Our equipment also complies with the regulations stipulated in the Machinery Directive.

Unfortunately, we keep finding that horse walkers are not given much importance in terms of maintenance, with sometimes fatal consequences, as was the case in the accident.

With a car that travels 20,000 kilometres a year or a tractor that has 300 - 400 operating hours, it goes without saying that you go for an annual service, regardless of the cost. Unfortunately, when it comes to horse walkers, which often run for more than 1,500 hours a year, the necessity is often not recognised.

We would like to encourage and sensitise you to regularly check your systems for hidden defects and potential hazards and to remedy them. These measures are crucial to ensure the safety and efficiency of your systems. Your safety and that of your animals is our top priority as a manufacturer!

As you know, we also offer service and maintenance for our horse exercisers. This is becoming increasingly popular. During the service, the horse walker is checked for all functions and existing defects are repaired.

Due to the large number of horse exercisers we have on the market, we often do not have to make an extra journey, but can combine this with other assignments, which makes the travelling costs manageable.

Don't take any risks and protect yourself!

We offer you the right maintenance contract for you, so you and your four-legged friends are on the safe side.

Best regards

Your company Kraft
