Precision Agriculture, the new era.

How Augmenta is helping farmers to succeed.

Augmenta was established in 2016 to provide a solution for fast and easy uptake of the most modern farming techniques. Our System is the first plug and play solution able to streamline crop analysis and adjust bottom-line input in real-time, according to the specific requirements of every single inch within a field. It is the only System featuring real-time analysis allowing perfect tailoring according to each plant need. It also offers the possibility of a 10 times lower adoption cost thanks to retrofitting on existing equipment. The Augmenta System addresses both the environmental issues related to industrial farming and the need of increasing productivity by reducing by up to 40% the use of chemicals and boosting productivity and quality by up to 20%.

The all-in-one plug & play System is mounted to the front of a tractor. As the tractor operates in the field, the software uses AI/ML models to analyse the captured images, determine the status of each inch of crop and regulate inputs. The scanning system also communicates with the sprayer/spreader using the ISOBUS protocol to maintain a constant flow of information for variable rate applications. The System maximises yield, quality and reduces crop inputs. The AI/ML software continuously improves itself using data collected before, during, and after crop treatments are deployed. This makes it a resilient and long-lasting investment for farmers. The system has been developed initially for 15 crops: Barley, Cotton, Corn, Rapeseed/Canola, Rice, Sorghum, Sugar cane, Soybean, Wheat, Grapes, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Leafy greens, and Sunflowers.

The key values of the Augmenta System are:

A) Significant reduction in pesticides and fertilisers to achieve sustainable farming: The Augmenta System increases yield by 11%, crop quality by 20% and reduce by 40% the use of chemicals lowering the environmental and health impact of industrial farming, while increasing the amount of resources produced to feed the growing world population.

B) Maximized agriculture income: Pilot studies confirmed an increased income of an average €200/hectare (ha) of cultivation per season. This would bring the EU additional potential €34.6B revenues from its 173M ha of arable land whilst reducing the subsidies that currently support the farmers in reducing the chemical usage in the fields.

C) Constant implementation of the System performance due to the AI/ML driven software: The data collected and processed are used to precisely define the inputs that the tractors will have to administer for each inch of crop and refine the VRA, ultimately offering a unique, self improving technology.

D) All-in one plug and play solution for affordable precision agriculture: The Augmenta System is the only solution enabling full precision agriculture by combining complete automation of crop analysis and delivery of the appropriate amount of fertiliser and pesticide. The System is designed to be easily retro-fit on any tractor, spreader/sprayer, allowing full automation of precision agriculture at less than 1/5 of the price of the current solutions.

How do we compare to other similar solutions?

A) Crop analysis through satellite imaging support Crop Health Imagery, grid or zone soil sampling workflows and general optimisation of the crops’ nutrition. They cannot provide a real-time and per-inch analysis, as they use low resolution satellite imaging.

B) Crop analysis through drone imaging offer higher resolution & possible implementation on multiple crops, but they are extremely expensive and time-consuming, since they require specific calibration for each crop, and need long time of imaging analysis (48h), delaying custom treatments.

C) Crop analysis through active sensors is reliable since it leverages advanced robotics along with ML to deliver the optimum input needed for the crop. However, each crop requires its specifically designed robot, so slower time to market, complex implementations and limited insights for improving the field status. They do not offer a full mapping of the field, and they are costly.

Case studies

In pilot testing/evaluation customers, our system improved yield by 11% and crop quality by 20%, and decreased chemical usage by up to 40%, resulting in a net gain of an average of €200 per ha per season. Applied across the EUs 173M ha of arable land, this would bring EU farmers an additional €34.6B revenue. Augmenta's system supports sustainable farming, making it economically effective for the farmers, reducing the need for institutional economic help. It also offers the possibility of directly measuring inputs to the fields, allowing for accurate monitoring of the agricultural practices.

Currently, the Augmenta System has been deployed 73 times across 17 different countries and our customers have used the system in more than 36.000 acres.
