LAWN MAINTENANCE IS MORE THAN JUST MOWING!

The maintenance of the average lawn is all too often limited to mowing. The result of unbalanced maintenance without fertilisation is that the turf ages and loses vitality and diversity. Many grass plants die off, and the density of the vegetation reduces systematically. All kinds of organic waste (leaves, grass clippings, etc.) combine to build up a layer of thatch. Weed seeds germinate and are given free rein to develop rapidly. This creates an ideal breeding ground for mosses.

Over time the grass begins to suffer, and the decline of the lawn accelerates mercilessly, usually two to three years after sowing.

In order to reverse this process of decline, people often revert to scarification. It is true that we should really encourage this, because it does remove a large percentage of parasites and predators from the grass in a mechanical manner. This does reverse this process of decline for a while, but unfortunately does not stop it. The impoverished grass will recover somewhat after this treatment, but the grass is often unable to grow over the open gaps between the plants, with all the negative consequences.

There is only one remedy: OVERSEEDING!

Overseeding is the sowing of new grass seed in the existing turf. The new seedlings fill the gaps between the old grass plants with healthy new plants. This vigorous young grass will not only restore the diversity of grass varieties, but also increase the density of the grass and rejuvenate the lawn. Two weeks after treatment, the lawn will already be fuller and greener. The lawn will be much more resistant, and weeds and mosses will no longer be able to get a foothold.
